So I've read a bunch about sticky shifters and I still have trouble with mine.
I broke the pivot wedge when trying to push into forward (managed a quick fix) and so it's not the shifter mechanism I don't think.
The shifting system has no problem with the reverse gate cable removed at the reverse gate.
When adjusted fully forward or full reverse (on the only adjustment set of nuts on the cable on the shifter) it makes no difference.
When shifting forward it does not click into place, I have to move it the last 1/4 inch to lock it in forward. I know the manual says it should lock, but I cannot adjust to make it so.
I can find no areas on the shifter cable to lubricate other than the top area where the bar comes out of the shifter. It does look rather corroded and I have lubed as much as I can see.
Do I need a new smooth running cable? How do I test for what the problem is? This is really perplexing.
