I replaced the polarizing film on the center Info gauge on my 96 GTX, after it sits outside for a bit the lens will get condensation on the inside of the lens. I removed the lens and reapply it using silicone RTV will no luck. I also took some of those moisture packets that say do not eat on them and put them it the gauge with no luck. Any help would be great.

Backside where the wires go in, seal that area. More so where the wires are no longer wrapped leading to the grommet, try some 3M rubber tape around the wire bundle.

You are going to have to take it apart in a low humidity environment if you don’t want it to fog then seal it up good. Pretty sure there’s a gortex membrane from the factory tho keep moisture out.

I am thinking the same thing. I have a simple humidity gauge and found out my fridge has a humidity around 15%. Also If I trap the cold air in there once it heats up the air can hold more water vapor is that can help. But it may pressurize a bit to about 2-3 psi.

I siliconed the heck out of the one I did. :) I have a couple more I want to do but I"m gonna buy the kit that comes with a new ring. I don't think I'll get any of them perfect but they'll be better than they were. LOL Good Luck with yours.... sounds like decent plan.

My speedster gauges were leaking from the front to where water was pooling in them and one of the tachs was acting erratic. I took clear windshield silicone and went around the back side lip of the gauge( the part that touches the hood), and then on the fuel gauge that is exposed the most I ran some around the ring where the glass meets it and then wiped it off, so just the very edge shows, did not want it to look more ugly than it already is.

To dry them out a hair dryer on low for about an hour pointed at the glass took care of it. The boat gauges have two holes in the housing and actually have a desiccant pack inside them for what it's worth so it helped to point the hair dryer at the holes for a while too. Desiccant only works for so long before it gets saturated, then it has to be baked dry again.

I have been using Silicone RTV, I believe I have a good seal. It did help to open the back to get the moisture out. I am thinking I should polish the lens on the inside or use an anti-fog agent of some kind. Well I have all winter to figure it out.
