I'm having a issue with both my 96 SPX and 96 XP after i rebuilt the carbs. They run great and i have great cardboard color on all plugs at top end and mid throttle. But when i shut the skis down for a minute or more they load up and flood out to where it takes FOREVER to get started. I have the pop off set at 27-28 on my XP and 38-39 on my SPX no fuel leaks around N/S...

did you use factory or OEM Mikuni rebuild kits... or did you use aftermarket kits? (like Windrosa)

If you used aftermarket kits... then go and buy new OEM diaphragms and change them. The aftermarket diaphragms suck, and they hold the needle open just a little. The result is a hard start after running.

If you used OEM kits... then check the needle and seat... and make sure the pivot arm is level with the carb body.

I got a kit from SBT. I figured it was just basic gskts. and the diaphram... But i didn't change needle and seat due to they looked good and had no leaks when checking pop off pressure.

As far as I know... the SBT kit is an "Import" kit.

If you didn't have the hard start issue before the rebuild... then the needle and seat are probably fine. Buy OEM Mikuni diaphragms, and replace them. You will be fine after. (but still check the pop-off and leak-down while you have them apart)

FYI... Mikuni diaphragms are easy to spot. They have a red nipple in the center.

Don't quote me for sure but i am kinda thinking that there was a red center in the diaphrams. I'm of coarse not positive but i will have to check that out. Do the "import" style keep more pressure on the needle maybe?

Make sure the needle/seat arm is flush with the base of the carb. Use a razorblade to insure of this. Ive seen some that are pretty far over, and the red nipple (lol) will keep pressure on it, allowing the needle to be open.
