I flipped the seadoo a couple wks ago in some big waves. i know i rolled it over the wrong way. I got it out of the water after getting my truck stuck in the Lake to save it.

ANyhow - when i try to start it i get nothin - doesnt even beep when i put the key on. So i bought a new battery and charged it up - still nothing.

I took apart the electric box next to the battery and it was full of water and all the wires are coroded.

what do i do now???

thanks for the help!

Did water enter the engine compartment?

If so, then water may have entered the engine via the carbs.

If that is the case, try this!

1. Check your engine compartment. Is it, or was it full of water;

2. If your answer is yes, then more lilely than not water entered your engine through the carbs.

One was to confirm is did you hear a "thud' nosie when you tried to crank over the engine?

If yes, don't try starting it again because water likely entered the engine and if you try to crank it over your rods may bend, so:

a. Dispel all water from your engine compartment by removing your drain plugs and tip the rear end of your Doo to dispel all of the water;

b. Pull your spark plugs, then crank your engine;

If water gushes out, then you know you got water into you engine.

c. Dry your plugs, put them back in the engine and crank it for not more than 6-10 seconds. (any longer and you mayl fry your starter);

d. Repeat b and c until water stops ejecting from the plug holes;

e. When all of the water is out, spray a little fogging oil in the cylinders, then use starter fluid to get it to fire-up.

If you don't follow my advice promptly, like yesterday, the bearings on your may rust.

Last, but definitely not least, as soon as possible, like yesterday, get that Doo on water and run it hard and hopefully in the interim the bearings on your crankshaft did not rust.

That is advice from a Shade Tree mechanic, (me) - but in my opinion, it is shared by most of the boyz in the know on this Forum

You should have dried everything the same day or at least the following day. Did it sit with water in it for a couple weeks? Not good! All you can do is clean all the electrical connections and spray everything down with some CRC or silicone spray and hope for the best! Check for blown fuses too.

Water did get into the hull - lots of it! I got the water out of the hull within an hour. Its the black box next to the battery I opened and found it full of water 2 wks later. I drained that but all connections in there are corroded. I don't see any fuses and I'm not sure what the ebox is? I currently cannot start the engine to get the water out of it! This is not good ha.

I'm gonna start by redoing all the electric connections since they got corroded. Or at least the ones tht look bad. Where do I find the fuses? How do I know if I got water in the oil or gas?

UPDATE:

I redid the worst electric connection in the electric box and cleaned all the connections with a wire brush. fuses looked good (the 15 and the 7.5 in the ebox).

Put the key on and it beeped! So i pulled plugs and started it.. sooo much water came out.

it kept coming out and finally i tried starting with plugs in. tons of water now comes out the back of the jet ski.

i started it with plugs out and in a couple times which caused more water out each time.

I did spray WD40 down there since it wont start...

Now what? How do I know if the engine is ruined or rusted??

tomorrow ill try starter fluid and run it out in the lake if it starts....

well, 2 weeks is a long time to have water in your motor. this is a case where a little water is worse than a lot of water. If the crank was complete submersed in water, it most likely will be fine. We pull snowmobiles out of the lake after weeks or even months and get them running a couple hours later and they run fine for years. but, a little water in the crank will rust it quickly and you will get it running no problem, but it may only last an hour before it goes boom.

you don't need to use starter fluid, that stuff is harsh on a 2 stroke. just use gas/oil mix in the cylinders. it will start after half a dozen times after pulling the plugs and doing again.

ride it and hope for the best.

i have the same ski and when i bought it the guy said it had been rolled and they couldn't get it started again. I ended up having to replace the vts and the coil to finally get it to fire. the beeper never came back on. I went through alot of wiring to determine all this though. It was a headache.

So I can get it real close to kixkin over now.... Once it sounds like its about to kick over it completely stops until I press the start button again........... Will it ways mist with the plugs out while starting because gas is going through their? Or do I still have wate? I've been doing this many times now. Puky brown and grey fluids come out of the cylinders.

yes, it still has water in there. you need to get it running and ride it for at least 20 mins so it can heat up and get all the water out.

the brown(rust which is not good) and grey slime will get less and less but won't go away completely until it runs. I have flipped these over on their side or completely upsidedown before and cranked it over. that will really clear it quickly but not easy to do unless you have the proper equipment like a fork lift.

keep trying, you'll get it. maybe put more gas in the cylinders each time, that will help dilute the sludge.

It won't start!!! 3 nights in a row tryin for hours. Gas down plug house. Starting fluid etc. It wanted it a couple time tho!

Might not hurt to check your compression and make sure you still have 140-150psi. Also, have you verified you are still getting spark? What do the plugs look like after you crank with them in? Make sure you take the battery out and recharge it as it gets low so it gets enough juice to fire.

Got it runnin!!!! Just rode it down the bay for 20 minutes full throttle. Seems hot engine lil smokey oil cover didn't wanna come off....
Sooo I put the black plastic tube filter thing over the battery bak in place and the seat bak on and it started after a couple tries........ Does that have to be on to start the engine???
