I recently sold my 2000 XP and purchased a 1999 Speedster with the two 110 H.p. engines.
I have been in the speedster before, but never driven it. I want to take it out this afternoon
and would like to know if there is anything I should know specific to this jet boat before I put in.

I really would like to know the starting procedures i.e., which engine to start first, do I use the choke and
throttle, or choke and no throttle. The boat has not been cranked in over a month by the way.

Thanks for the comments

Can't give you advice on your boat specifically but I would try starting it at home before leaving just to make sure it will start.

If it has not been started in a month, probably the gas in the carbs has evaporated. Prime it with a little shot through the MIST holes on top of the flame arrestor. It is just easier on the starter, to prime fuel into it, instead of alot of cranking on the starter. You put a little gas in a bottle, with a tube on top. (I have one from the model airplane days) And use it for a primer.

If you run it weekly, just squeeze the throttle a few times, and the accelerator pump will do it nicely.

All I have is an 85 HP GS, and that is about all the good I can do for you!

Starting........

It doesn't matter which engine you start first.

You should attach the lanyard cap, pull the choke up, then push the start/stop button. If the motor doesn't hit within 30 seconds, stop and do like Nate said. If it hits, then release the choke and try starting without it. You may have to repeat the starter one or two times. Be careful not to flood it.
Then, apply the same procedure to the other engine.

Your a jet boat/ski operator. I don't think any instrucions on driving is needed. A jet is a jet.......

I got the speedster started

I got the speedster started and running, and I must say it runs like a champ. I just need to keep it that way.

Any suggestions on how to do the running 360? How fast is too fast to do this, and when to give throttle and let off?

Thanks, Greg

I'd suggest trying it at an increasing rate of speed each time - when it spits you out then back off a tad for the next one....

I've never had any trouble doing this at any speed but I can't say that I have done it at WOT. That said, it really depends on water conditions, how many you have on board, etc.... Safer to do it when the water is calm. With only the driver on board I find it feels safer turning left because turning right I feel like the boat is tiping so much I am going to take on water (I doubt I would though). With waves I wouldn't do it at a high speed.

Best way I have found is while going staight pull throttle quickly back to idle, then turn hard left or right, then quickly go to WOT. Be ready to cut back the throttle if/when it start cavitating.

As Bent said though, it is always smart to start slow and go from there.
