I am 16 and I just got a SeaDoo 2001 GTS with good compression. The previous owner had it for 1 year and didn't winterize the fuel system during the last winter. I have no ideal about how it was maintained before him.

When in water and accelerating in water it initially bogs down, almost dies, then accelerates. After running a tank of sea foam and carb cleaner in it, it runs slightly better. I am rebuilding the carburetor using this kit.

It doesn't have the grey fuel lines so I think those don't need to be replaced.

While I'm rebuilding the carb is there anything else you guys think I should proactively rebuild/maintain/replace? I have the service manual but it's a little overwhelming.

First and foremost, welcome to the family.... second, compression test with quality tester on any 2 stroke is paramount to the health of the engine. Third, use only OEM rebuild kits. Fourth, reuse the spring that's in the carb.... the ones in the kits are almost never right..... also do a pop off test using wd40 and not fuel.... lots of DIY tutorials on making your own pop off tester....

Second never run Seafoam or carb cleaner in a 2 stroke. It will never fix a fuel issue and will strip the lubricant from the engine.
Drain that fuel tank and get the carb kit installed.
I always replace the fuel strainer and on/off valve too. Again no cheap Chinese ones.

Considering the year of ski, and it's symptom, with no grey fuel lines either, I'd say 1)diaphram I probably shot and 2) the brass protruding fitting inside the throat of the carb is plugged. Clear that and your hesitation off idle will be gone

The typical cause of hesitation is the 3 small pilot circuit that feed directly into lower body of these carbs.
Also make sure the accelerator pump is squirting fuel if yours has one.
