First Maintenance

Hello all,

I have a GTX and GTI that are 2013 models. I was told by the dealer that sold them to me that I have to bring them back to a dealer for the first maintenance at 25 hours. They said that the oil needs to be changed and have everything inspected. They said the break in oil is different and should be changed at 25 hours. They said this service takes about 5 hours.
The cost of this maintenance is about $275 per boat and they said it must be done at a dealer to keep the warranty active. I would appreciate any comments on this. I am glad to keep them well maintained. Note- I bought them in TN but I have them in TX now and would be servicing them in the Dallas area.

When I bought mine new, I told the dealer Id be doing the first maintenance myself and he didn't have a problem with it.

Quite simply, BRP can void your warranty if you don't take it in for that 25 hour maintenance. You can do the oil change yourself and "look things over" for tightness and all, but if anything fails during the warranty period good luck getting BRP to honor the warranty.

They should just include the 25 hour maintenance as part of the original sale price IMHO. But oh well. (sigh!)

After the 25 hour maintenance you can do your own oil changes and such without it affecting the factory warranty.

I had my ceramic washers fail. Dealer warrantied all required work. Somewhere in the neighborhood of $4500

the dealer where me and my buddy bought our skis are pretty cool.. they threw in the 25 hour maintenance for free... all the service manager said was if there was any aftermarket mods.. to remove them and replace with stock before bringing it in for a warranty problem..

i think it really depends on how you build a relationship with your dealer.. ive had one dealer tell me no to something.. just to go to another dealer and have a few laughs with the service manager only for them to hook it up and check a few things for me in the past for free..

You're completely right. I'm in good with my dealer and I was talking to him about possibly getting a new ski with extended warranty and he said he'd honor it even if I mod it as long as I don't go crazy and if anything happens, it isn't directly related to a aftermarket part.

I'm glad you got it covered though. I didn't realize you are the original owner of your '08 RXT. And I typed they can void your warranty, not they will void your warranty. I believe there is some fine print about it in the original paperwork, my sister's Kawasaki Jet Ski had that in there under the warranty terms and conditions. I bought my RXT used and way out of warranty, but for cheap so no complaints here and no issues with manufacturer as such.

ps. I just bought a 2012 Can-Am Spyder RS last week, it's neat! Never rode a "motorcycle" before never cared for 2-wheelers, but this 3 wheeled machine is sweet almost like riding a SeaDoo on land it "floats" along the highway and can really haul ass! Now I have something else to study and learn all about; I must be a glutton for punishment or something. Hehehe!

Jealou! I love those Spyders! My dealer wouldn't let me ride on because I don't have a motorcycle endorsement on my license but he let me ride his personal one after hrs (same guy that sold me the RXT) and it was a blast! Wish I had room for another toy. Or money for another you for that matter lol
