i am totally new to jetskiing, having never owned one, so i'm in the process of trying to choose a second hand non sc seadoo. i have been looking at gtx's all the way back to 2002, and 130/155 gti's if i can find a cheap enough one.
is the fiberglass gtx hull better or worse than the later and gti composite type, and are the earlier gtx's
much behind overall compared to the latter improved models with trim, Is etc. also, is the 130hp(more torque)? a much different beast to the 155hp(more power)? i have found a very good example 2002 gtx, but don't want to be told i should have gotten an 05 or 07 for example.
my kids and i have done the dirtbike thing for the last 12 or so years, but now i want a change, we'll see if the kids follow!
any advice is appreciated
regards
eric

The older GTX hull is superior to the newer GTI in my opinion. I've said this before to others and will say this to you also, I'll take a 02 GTX 4tec over a newer 07-08 GTI all day and twice on Sunday. The 155 motor is pretty much a tank if you keep up on maintenance, which is mainly oil changes and occasional spark plugs.

thanks for the reassurance of the fg hulled models. is it worth getting a later model to get the trim feature or the upgrade electronics? i have seen wedge kits for sale, so assume that would help the trim angle for better performance?

For a ski that big trim is not important unless you absolutely have to have it. My 08 doesn't and it doesn't bother me. The wedge kits aren't going to be much help on a 155 ski.

I would definitely go into a 4 stroke engine versus the 2 stroke. Much better engine overall in my opinion. The 155 horse is plenty of power. It will satisfy your need for speed. I had my 2009 GTI SE 155 going 60 on very calm seas. Most of the time I cruise at 35 or so. Hull has alot of effect on water type you are driving in. I live in Rhode Island, the chop in the bay can get quite big at times. I wish I has my sea doo GTX S 155 with the suspension up in RI rather then in South Carolina. Good luck!
