Ok, i thought i would post this because I've been having alot of problems with getting my ski to start. I replaced the starter and relay(which needed it) but still couldn't figure out why i was still getting the clicking from the starter. Starts fine the first couple of times, then the starter would bog down until it would just click like ir seemed like it was building up compression and not releasing it so the piston couldn't move due to pressure.
Finally built up the courage to take out the rave valves (btw not hard at all) and what do u know, They were so carbonized u almost needed a grinder to get the build up off (of course i didnt use a grinder but u get the idea)
I used a can of carb and choke cleaner and a brass wire brush to get the gunk off and put the rave valves back in. I hooked up the battery and presto, Fired right up with no problem at all. I check it about 8 more times and every time it started up with very very little effort. if your having issues with ski not starting, or noticing that its seems very hard for it to turn the drive shaft, pull your rave valves out and clean them thoroughly. It's very simple and makes a world of difference/
here are some pics of the rave valves
