While I wait for a new engine I plan on doing the following:

Empty the gas tank
Change fuel selector
Change fuel lines and filters
Serviced pump
Wear ring is good
Vts update (through hull)
Rebuild both carbs
Swap out both negative and positive cables
Thinking about painting the inside of the hull?

What have I missed?

Thanks in advance!

I would suggest getting your carb kits from OSD and make sure you have a way to verify the pop off pressure. If not OSD has pop off tester kits. Also follow the OSD instructions and re use your old pop off spring. OSD doesn't even send a new one. They have them if needed but you need to know what spring force you need to get correct pop off. While your in the carbs make sure and clean out the tiny transfer ports in the throat. There's a sticky on here about it as to the technique. Cool if you knew this already just throwing it out in case you didn't. There are other sources for carb parts but you want original Mikuni stuff and the OSD kits give you all you need and not what you don't plus nice new stainless Allen head screws. Do not use aftermarket carb parts you'll be back in them if you do.

Great point wabash, I will make sure to order OSD. Carbon seal, ya know I pulled the drive shaft out so no better time then now to update it !

Super clean. Use it straight, wear gloves, don't get it on the outside gel coat. I use a home depot spray bottle. Look in my clapped out thread for the pics of before and after.

I also use a product called Purple Power. You can get it at Wal Mart or auto stores. It's very strong it will take paint off if you let it dry on the surface or at the least take the gloss off. However when used cautiously it is great. Will clean anything. I've used it to remove black streaks from enclosed trailers and I've used it to remove years of grass stain from mower decks down to like new paint. Simple Green Max is pretty good too but not as strong as PP. Spray PP on a tire side wall and it nearly turns black in about a minute. When you flush it off there's a big brown puddle under the tire and the tire looks new. Trick is wet the surface first then use it. Never let the surface dry. And always test first.

We go to West Branch in Portage county. Fairport Harbor on Lake Erie is our favorite place. Great swells to jump outside break water. Huge area inside break water. Ride over to Davis Bessie Nuke plant discharge. Freaky area of warm water discharge from plant. I work for AMR Ambulance. I am in and out of City Hospital all day long.

Replace all oil lines and filters. All fuel lines new. Might consider replacing the through the hull vents for the tanks. The gas filter / water separator under front hatch should be replaced. The gasket dries out and leaks. Buy the pop off tester from OSD.com So you can test for fuel leaks once it is back together. You use a bike pump to supply it air pressure. Just 5 pounds are needed for leak tests. It goes much higher but that is for pop off carb testing. Harbor freight has a lot of the tools you need to work on a Ski Doo.

The ski was set up on premix when I bought it. I did see a line still goes to the crankcase? Do I need that tank?

Yes. The hoses that go to crank is for rotary valve lubrication. You could technically remove the tank if you filled and looped those two hoses.

Its not hurting anything, when I put the top end back together do I need to fill any special oil. It just make sure the reservoir has oil in it ?

Just put some of your premix oil in it really just need to have both hoses full. But technically and if it were me I'd fill the tank about half way to help promote some circulation. It will circulate a little bit. In the ol days before injection on the sled motors they just had a little can that you put oil in that had hoses down to the case. You could tell easily when you had a crank seal leak cause the can would go empty.
