engine rev problems on 95 speedster

I have a 1995 seadoo speedster and both engines will start and the engine on the left will idle signifiagntly higher than the other while the other idles fine. When i floor it, the engines rev up to the normal operating rpm for that speed but in 1-2 seconds it drops back down to idle than goes back up again why is this? It also does this at a quarter throttle and half throttle. Could it be fuel lines the orignal ones are still in the boat or is it carborator problems.
 
Well...it could be either or both. Hard to tell without you getting your fingers dirty.

But, if you do have the original fuel lines (which I assume are the gray tempo lines), you will have to replace those before your troubles progress to a blown engine. They will corrode internally due to the ethanol in gas and will clog your system up (filters, carbs, etc.). This will cause you to run lean and... BOOM.

So, you are going to have to clean out your entire fuel system and replace those lines on both engines. If it has been at least 50 hours since your carbs have been rebuilt, then you should do that as well.

This is stuff you should do if you value your boat. And in doing so, this most likely will cure your current problem.
 
Thanks I figured something along those lines was the problem. What are the common trouble spots with the carbs? Do i have to get the seadoo specific fuel line or can I go to orielly and by regular fuel line?
 
You can just go to an auto parts store and buy regular fuel line. That is what I did as well as 100's of others. You are not running fuel injection, pressure is low so the cheap stuff will do.

As far as trouble spots in the carbs...the little filters inside get clogged and the jetting areas too. You should just buy oem mikuni rebuild kits and replace all the gaskets, filters, diaphrams, etc. It is recommended the carbs be rebuilt every 50 hours. The ethanol in today's gas also deterioates the rubber seals in the carbs as well.

You may notice a greenish sludge in the carbs and around you fuel line connections. This is the deterioation from the fuel lines. The gray lines were developed prior to ethanol becoming an additive to gasoline so I guess you can't put too much blame on BRP.

Once you get all this done, you may have to tune your carbs to get them dialed in just right.

I would think that once you are done rebuilding your carbs, you will know all you need to to accurately tweak them if necessary. Just set the carbs according to seadoo specs when you rebuild. Odds are this will be right on the money. If you do have to tweak it a bit, it should be very minor/small adjustments.

Also, this is something you will want to test on the water, not the trailer.
