Engine rebuild on a 4-tec 2008 RXP 255, advice needed.

I bought a used PWC and it have high amount of hours on it, 340h.

The scooter looks in great condition. Engine is pulled and started to pick apart.

It had water in oil, and I suspect from bad intercooler. Intercooler should have been replaced after this.

And the carbon seal is gone bad.

Other than this I have no knowledge on any other issues with this PWC.

I plan to pick the engine completly apart and rebuild all that can be rebuildt with new parts/gaskets and resurfacing/polishing.

And in this process, I want to get as much advice on what parts to replace, upgrade and such.

Mainly on the engine + supercharger. But also things like engine mounts, jetpump, steering and other things that might show up here in the thread as we journey through this task of building this PWC back to glory days.

Links to shops around the world is wanted, and brands or models to look for.

Thanks in advance for helping out.

I rebuilt mine and it will be very expensive to do it correct with this many hours and water damage. "OEM" parts (no shafts) are going to be about $3K plus the cost of special assembly tools, new pistons with rings and you will have to pay a machine shop to bore the cylinders, grind valves, seats and plane the head.

This is a complicated engine- you leave out a small shim or put something in wrong and you may be doing it again.

I would look at re-manufactured or new aftermarket engines. I have seen SBT engines listed in a few posts but have not actually used them. If you go this route you still may need other parts such as oil and cooling pump rebuild kits, pump housings, engine mounts, drive shaft (if heavily pitted at the carbon seal area) etc.

Plus the SC rebuild kit and tools for it.
