Hi guys,

I'm going to take the engine out this weekend to do a couple of things which I need to get sorted:

Engine mounts
Carbon Seal

Whilst I'm in there I'm going to rivet the fuel tank straps back down as the rivets have snapped off and there doesn't appear to be anything holding my tank in place.

Does anyone have any pointers so anything else I should do whilst I have it all out. Or any points that I should be looking for to make life any easier.

Thank you

Get an alignment tool if you remove the engine, maybe you can put marks so it goes back exactly as before otherwise you will have problems. Check the impeller , clearance of the wear ring , bearing in the pump.

You should align any chance you get but if a tool just is not available, do NOT remove the mounts to hull bolts, only the engine to mounts. You'll be back in same alignment as it is now that way at least. Depending on your ski, it can be tough to get out/in. Mines an RXP (06) and even when you remove the seat tub you have to lean the motor one way then the other as you pull it to clear. Going back in, do things like ground wires, some of the tie-wraps etc while 1/2 way in, far easier than once fully seated again

That's great thanks Greg.

I got the engine and everything out last night which was surprisingly a really enjoyable evening and wasn't difficult at all. I left the engine mounts in so I can mark them so the new ones go back in, in the same position.

I have noticed the drive shaft has got a fair bit of corrosion which I expected, do I need to get a proper seadoo one (approx. 300-400 hundred) or can I get an alternative WSM one which is about half the price? does it make a huge difference. Also the start motor looks tired but works perfectly. Should I change it whilst the engine is out or can this be done at a later date.

Thanks mate
