I have a 2008 GTI SE 130 and I never notice water getting into the engine compartment after riding. When I take it into the lake I flush out the exhaust. When I take it into the ocean I do rinse down the engine and then spray with WD40. Is this what fogging is, if not can someone please explain. Also, am I taking the proper steps? I also hit all the linkage and nuts where the propeller housing is with wd40. Thanks

NO that is not engine fogging. Engine fog is an actual product that you spray into the air intake while the engine is running and optionally pull the spark plugs and spray into the cylinders. your owners manual will describe the process

WD40 isn't the best to use after salt water usage. It's ok if that's all you have available..... Use as suggested fluid film instead.
White Lithium grease will leave a white thick foamy stuff all over the engine....so I wouldn't use that either, except on linkages for cables.

Fluid film is the sht on the outside of metal parts in the bilge. Fogging oil sprayed in the cylinders for extended periods of non use.
