From idle the engine Boggs down when squeezing the throttle. I can pull the choke and push it in quick and it takes off like it should. As soon as i let off again it does the same thing. I just bought the machine and the carbs were just rebuilt. Any thoughts and help is much appreciated.

Sounds like your a-pump circuit is not functioning properly. Pull air box and flame arrester and make sure you see fuel squirt from the brass nozzles in both carbs. If not it could be either clogged brass nozzles, bad a-pump diaphragm or check valve or a combination of any of these.

No. The air box lid has slid locks. Take top off and remove bolts that are holding flame arrestor bracket. Then the bottom of box will be loose too.

No, on the XP you have to move the oil tank up and then the air box will wiggle out the front under the pipe.

It doesn’t have the slide lock like the other engines.

You are running really lean if pulling the choke makes it better.

I would suspect a bad carb rebuild with junk parts.

I’ll agree. It sounds like aftermarket carb parts were used to me too... I would redo the whole rebuild process.

Sorry, didn’t catch that this was an XP limited. The XP non-limited does have the slide locks.

I agree with the others if you don’t find issues with the a-pump circuit and/or if you don’t know if OEM kits were used. However, it is pretty easy to eliminate the a-pump first as it can cause the symptoms described.

Wound up taking it in. I don't have the tools to do the carbs properly. After the quote I got I will be buying some tools. The labor rates are crazy. At least it will be done right. Carb rebuilds, fuel filter replaced and new fuel lines.

Make sure and pressure test delivery system once completed with that list. It will help make sure your vent and pressure relief valves are functioning or if your fuel selector valve is leaking air/ functioning.
