Was reading some old group k data and saw that ECWI on the stock 787 pipe leads some good gains from low to mid range rpm. Anyone have any experience with this? Other engine mods on the ski are a buckshot head and jetkit.

Well I do of coarse. It's hard to beat a proper working and well adjusted water regulator. You would be adding a lot of stuff that needs more service and maintenance that is just doing the same thing your water regulator does.

If you want more revs from a stock pipe you must dry it out. I've seen mods as cheap and crude as a little plastic ball valve added inline between the regulator and the pipe with just enough flow allowed through to keep the paint on and the couplers from melting. Even with that your not getting much over 7K rpm with stock carbs and pipe.

I haven't seen it on a stock pipe (my sample size is extremely small) , only on AM pipes, but on my Factory 1 it certainly made a noticeable difference.
My waterbox was also hard jetted at the time as well.

Thanks as always Matt and spim. Think hard jetting a stock box would be worth it? Maybe even a jet control valve?

my box was definitely stock all the way, I just never tried hard jetting w/no other mods,,, but i'm 99% sure its been done.

I wish I could remember what jet was used, don't quote me on this but I'm thinking it was like either a 145 or 125, but I might suggest buying 3/4 different sizes (after you get confirmation as to correct range) and seeing if you notice the difference. I remember mine being on the larger side to error on the side of caution, but it could have been smaller)

(and remember that you should check that every few rides, you don't want it to clog, mine never did but i've been told they clog pretty easily)

Well honestly I don't even know how to jet it, but anything like this that be can done for little or nothing and makes a difference grabs my attention lol
