drop in idle

Hi

Have just had a rebuild on our 99GTX...new crank, top end and carby. Ski ran great for about 8 hours, last time I used it I was coming in when suddenly the idle dropped from 1500 to 500 and the thing almost stalled. The only way I could keep it from stalling was to hold the throttle open a little. It also coughed and spluttered and backfired when I took off and was about 1000 rpm below it's highest rev range. It has also dropped in revs on the back of the trailer when flushing about 3000 drop to 2000-2500.
It starts fine and has no water in the hull. The only thing I did was clean the RAVES and plugs...the plugs are wet i.e oily- oil is pretty rich ( assuming thats ok as it had to be broken in, and the rebuilders said let it run rich for the season before bringin it in to adust.)
I've got it booked in at the service centre because with the amount of $$$ I've spent I'll leave nothing to chance. Any ideas as what it might be i.e could it be a number of things or just a loose idle adjustment screw...please bare in mind I won't be trying to fix it myself, I just would like some suggestions. Cheers.

You might try using some new spark plugs...It's possible that the spark plugs got fouled from the extra oil added to aid in break-in. Yes, I would have the the repair shop look it over to since they did the rebuild, and it must have some kind of warranty.

You may have a Rectifier failure. Check the voltage, start ski and rev to 5500
rpm and recheck the voltage. If it rose to 15VDC or more, Its Toast! A rectifier
changes A/C to useable D/C current to operate the mpem and re-charge battery.
