Drive shaft slipping

OK...I have a 2001 GTI and virtually no experience with jet skis or vehicle mechanics. Yesterday I was running it for about 2 hours and all of a sudden it started making a whiny zippy sound and wouldn't move anymore. I took off the steering nozzle and jet pump today and was able to grab the drive shaft and nearly freely turn it by hand. The only vibration it made was clicking . Went inside the ski and was able to freely turn the drive shaft w the same clicking where it goes into I guess the flywheel...see pic. How do I know if its just the splines on the drive shaft or if the flywheel part is messed up and what size job is this? Thanks

Also I pulled out the drive shaft slightly to expose the splines. I don't have any experience w these things but the splines seem ground down some

One more thing. When I pulled the driveshaft back about 1/4 inch it seemed to re engage the PTO.

Common failure. Contact Minnetonka4me. He will have a good used one.

Make sure you have the runner bumper stops when you reinstall it.

Yes I have a replacement PTO and driveshaft in stock.

I do not see any grease, nor the seal that is supposed to be on the end of the PTO. That area is supposed to be full of grease at all times.

I also have that seal in stock. PM me if I can help further or would like to order.
