If you keep your accel pump and do not re jet the motor, it WILL be coming back out to do a top end job. If you do not keep the accel pump, you will need to richen up the pilots a fair amount BUT can keep your factory mains. Either way a jetting change MUST be done.
If your going to richen up then lean out (the smart way) re jet your carbs. A 1/4 turn is fine tuning, not cautious. Cautious would be putting in a 170 main from a 162.5.
Yea you can lower your pop off that some don't like to. Its all in how you think the ski feels and runs. Most do, some don't. The factory 2.0 and 95g spring will give you about 24lbs pop off which is fine. And your stock 951 motor will never flow enough fuel to need anything more than a 2.0 needle and seat.
Me personally, I changed my pop off and have considered going back to stock since my low end feels a slight hesitation from being loaded up. But I do run large pilots. All personal preference on the feel of the ski.
And if you do just bolt them on and go, don't do any hero runs across the lake right away. Tune the carbs the way they should be tuned from an idle, 1/4, mid, the wot. But make sure its done right or don't bother doing it. No sense in tuning in wot if you can't run smoothly at an idle, or take of nice and crisp anywhere else.
