Dess lanyard???

I have a 1996 GTI that craps out at any given time...I frig with the lanyard ( no beeps anymore) and it fires back up....I know I need a new lanyard key but how do I tell if it is DESS or not?

does ur landyard have metal strip inside, if so, its dess. Clean it and the post with an eraser, see if that works

Thanks I did try the eraser...no go...how much should i expect to pay to have a key ptrogramed?

I found an OEM key on Ebay for $45.00. If you were to get it from the dealer I think they are like $50-55.00. I think it is well worth it, I attempted to buy from a online retailer that told me it was an DESS key and it was just a normal key without DESS. Just be cautious and good luck. My seadoo guy programed the key for free, it takes them like 20sec.
