DESS Key not chirping

I have a 97 GTI.
When I out my DESS key on, I no longer get the chirping sound.
It starts fine.
Any ideas why this happens?

Do you know where the buzzer is located on a 2008 RXT-X 255?
Mine is doing the same now, just very faintly on,barely hear it.

They use to be in the handle bar pads, on the older skis. I'm not exactly sure where they are on the new skis. (haven't had to look for one yet)
