Depth Finder

Has anyone installed a depth finder in a 2004 Sea Doo Sportster ? My dealer doesn't recommend mounting the transducer inside due to the double hull. Will a transom mount be more accurate ? What make & model do you recommend ? Detailed installation instructions & pictures would be appreciated. Thank you.

I believe all of the OEM units are through hull transducers. I don't see why you couldn't do the same.

Yes, the OEM transducer was an in-hull unit. People have had success with transom transducers inside the hull.

If you do go the in-hull route, place the transducer in a plastic bag with water and place it in the hull to check the consistency of your readings. You want it away from bubbles and underwater turbulence as much as possible.

Ours is located on the port side of the port motor slightly behind the front of the motor.
