Cylinder gasket?

Hello, I have a 2000 Sea-Doo GS 717 engine.
I replacing a cylinder jug. I’ve looked at the cylinder gaskets and there are 6 or so to choose from for the thickness.
What thickness should I buy for the gasket?
It is all stock.
I bought a used jug and new rings.
Thank you

Did the old gasket have any holes in it? They sometimes have holes in the gasket, 5 holes is a .5mm gasket, 4 holes .4mm. Put in the same thickness that came out

I didn’t know that. I will take it apart now. I wanted to order one and have all the parts here so I could do it in one day.
Thank you for letting me know.

So the long version is you measure the squish with solder and no gasket. You then determine what you need to get the clearance into spec and order the correct thickness gasket. That will give you maximum performance.

Or you just buy the standard thickness from WSM/SBT etc and roll with it.

Hello, I took the cylinders off. Here is a picture of the gasket. Since there’s 6 small holes would I buy the .6 mm gasket?
First Sea Doo I’ve ever owned and have no clue about them. Sorry.
Thank you for helping me out.

Yes, assuming it wasn’t changed before and the wrong one out in, But no damage is going to happen with a .6 gasket

Also should I replace this piston? It’s scored pretty good.
I did buy new rings because I’m replacing one of the cylinder jugs.
Thank you

I’ve always changed the pistons when doing a top end rebuild without measuring them. I will always measure the bores but have never measured the old pistons just always changed them to reduce the chance of a skirt ever breaking. Anyways, in your situation I would definitely change that piston

I will do. Thank you for your help!!

You need to have the cylinders and pistons measured for proper clearance. You can't just go swapping pistons and rings and hope it will be fine.

That piston seized from lack of fuel and/or oil. You need to find the cause before slapping it back together.
