Cure for oil overfill effects?

So we did an oil change on my son's GTI 130. We only got out about a quart and a half, put two back in, was at the top dipstick mark. When we ran it it starting bogging and won't go past 35mph, real loss of power. No codes showing. No leaks, is not smoking but does smell a bit gassy. So we removed a quart of oil and now it's at the bottom mark of the dipstick. Went out again, still the same. So is there a procedure for clearing the excess oil? I did buy new plugs, going to try that tomorrow.
Thanks for any tips.

This is a bit puzzling... obviously a successful oil change would have you suck out closer to 4 or 5 quarts of oil. You likely still need and want to do an oil change when you are comfortable with your ski running correctly. Definitely try new plugs before you get overly concerned with any oil change error. And check your oil level before going back out by running your machine level on the trailer for a few seconds, revving it a couple times, then turning it off - check the oil level after it has sat for a minute or two. I don’t know of any procedure or reset needed for overfilling, and if you don’t have any warning lights, you would assume all sensors are seeing what they want to see. Hopefully a fresh set of plugs will get you back in business and were a coincidental factor to your oil change.

I have a GTI 130 as well and after doing an oil change I had no real issues. I mad sure I emptied all of the oil out then I filled it to the top of the dipstick and it ran fine, with an oil change I always change the plugs as well. As for the overfill procedure I cant help you there but I would love to hear how its running after new plugs. Also, did you warm up your jet ski before you took the oil out?

Thanks SDP, We removed the extra oil, probably did not warm it up enough the first time, changed the plugs and it runs like new, thank you for your reply.
