Has anyone heard of or experienced this:
2 identical stock 2013 RXP-X 260 iBR's.
Boat 1: installed brand new sealed cruise and ski mode module. Got "ski mode" on gauge.
Boat 2: installed customer-returned used but supposedly working "Ski Mode" module. Got nothing on gauge, no ski mode option.
Here's what I did in this order:
Moved boat 2 ski module to boat 1. NO ski mode option.
Moved (working) boat 1 cruise/ski module to boat 2: NO ski mode option!?
So, moved cruise/ski module back to boat 1 where it was originally installed AND working... NO SKI MODE!
My question: do these modules "marry" to the boat they are FIRST installed in and then somehow deactivate totally if they are put into a different boat? My reasoning is: the cruise/ski module that I know was new and unused worked on the first boat it was installed in, that being my boat 1. After it was put in a different boat, my boat 2, it now doesnt work in either boat. The ski module was used so it was obviously installed in someone else's boat at one time, that is why it never worked in either of my boats.
Does anyone know if this is correct? And if so, is there a way to "reset" the module, whether manually or through the dealer BUDS system?
I would greatly appreciate any info or insight/ideas on this. It is frustrating me beyond belief. I am a certified auto mechanic for 30+ years so hooking up 3 wires for these modules was not a stretch. I obviously checked everything twice and then some.
