Has anyone every noticed corrosion forming on the outside face of their rotary valve on an 787 engine?
While I had my carbs off (many times within the last few weeks) to clean them out, I've noticed black corrosion like pitting on about a quarter of the surface area of the valve face.
I'm sure this boat has sat for quite sometime. Is it common for the valve to corrode like this.
While the carbs were off I also checked the valve clearance as per the shop manual using the feeler gauge method. It seems to be within the specified range of .013
Do you think that this pitted surface area would cause bogging during acceleration?
