Cooling port adjustment

Good morning guys, so over the past few years I have gained quite a fit of experience with these machines having owned 2 DI machine and now rebuilding one 951 engine. This question is about the cooling port. As everyone knows it’s a super PITA that seadoo put them in the back of the machine. Is it possible to cap off the port on the inside of the machine and create another port somewhere in the hull from that cut/capped line or does the machine need that original port for some other reason than just a flush after riding??

Flush port Is actually an exit under normal flow. When you flush the flow is reversed. That is why you should see water coming out of the pump during flushing.

Exactly, so there is something I can to to make that connection more accessible by adding a shutoff to close the exit when flushing and leave open when riding, closing the new connecting when riding also....

Yes, you can tee into that line but it should always be open when riding as it lets a regulated amount of water and can overheat the engine if not open.

Yes sir I am. Its a pain when the ski is up on the sport port to connect the water hose to flush...

Just stick a hose quick connect adapter on there, and female adapter on the hose, then it's easy to slip the hose on. I add a small valve (Home Depot for a couple bucks) between the hose and adapter, that way I'm not running back and forth to turn the water on/off.

On my skis, I leave the male fitting adapter on the hull fitting full time, no issues, water flows freely out of it when riding.

Just be careful restricting the outlet. If you look inside you can actually see a smaller hole in that fitting so just make sure you don’t have anything that would be smaller and you’ll be fine.
