Hi
I have a seadoo sportster le with one 130 hp motor and i put two computers in it since last year it keeps on shorting out and the dealer cant find the problem. so i have a question for you.
what if I fuse every one of the wires going to the computer? Would this help to find the problem if it blows the fuse and then I can trace the wire causing the problem? Is this possible?
Thanks in advance

Electrical Havok

I reccomend you call BRP and find out the amper of each color coded wire to apply your proposition. Too bad the Dealer can't help the lemon.
You have a great idea.

My guess is the Stator has metal particles in it, and they (Dealer Techs) are just to lazy to open it, as Electrical Spikes begin there and go thru MPEM to any ground. Other than that, you'd have to individually test each wire color independently to find any short/broken wire in the wire loom. Its Spikes that blow MPEMs, or reverseing polarity in the transient suppressor diode on a downwaved E-spike. These bits come from flywheel teeth, starter bendix's as interaction & roller bearing wear out.

I also suggest you dielectric grease any wire connection, fuse & fuse holder. Even a metal "cat-hair whisker" can be dangerous in a Stator. A strong Magnet can find them, even when ya don't see'm.

very interesting, it makes a lot of sense. i will remove the starter, take it apart and clean it. or should i just replace the starter? But also i dident mention that after the dealer installed the computer the boat worked good for about three weeks with advrage use. (if that helps) in the meantime do you think that bombardier will give me the amperage for each of the wires and do you know where i can find the wiring scematic for that MPEM? lots of questions but you are the only person that gave me anything that made sense of what is happening to the boat after two computers i dont want to lose this one.
Thanks so much for the help Bills86e

The Shop Manual specific to your ski year/model will have your wire diagram in the rear pages.

I called the dealer for a shop manual and they said that that is no longer available.
I looked on line and purchased a shop manual but no wiring diagrame . is their a place whire i can get one

Hi Bills86e
Just removed the stator plate from motor and I can’t see any teeth missing from the fly wheel and no teeth missing from the starter everything seems to be clean but I did not pull the fly wheel off to inspect the stator. Should I? Or should I go to plan (A) and fuse all the wires going to the MPM. I tried to call Bombardier but waited two hrs and the second time I left the phone on speaker for four hrs I don’t think I would get help from Bombardier as far as finding out the amperage for each wire. I have the wiring schematic for the boat do you know someone that could help me with that problem?
Thanks
