compression

Hey guys. I got a compression tester a while back and checked my skis. They had 140 psi on both cylinders on both skis. Ran them nice and hard today and they ran great. I decided to check compression and noticed one is now about 135 on both cylinders the other ski still has 140 so I guess is that a problem. And when is it to low. I know consistent between the 2 is the key, but I don't want to cause any problem.

Also the battery read 12.41 so I know its good and cables are tight. I even went n double checked both skis to make sure the compression tester was good. Even tho it is just a 30 dollar one.

A cheap gauge is fine as long as you trust it. I have a couple cheap ones in my shop, and I just hook them to my air compressor to check them.


Anyway... 135 is OK... but that engine is getting tired. Keep an eye on it... but plan to do a top-end this coming winter.

okay cool, should i be worried that it dropped some just over a few rides out? anything i should check for? when doing a top end rebiuld do you even have to take the motor out or just the top end off?

i doubt you have to take the motor out. i have 135 on all 4 cylinders and it runs fine, but i plan on doing my top end this winter or spring.

I stopped at the jet skis this morning before going to work. I checked compression again since motor was cold. I got 139 and 140 now and the other ski still has 140 on both hole so I guess I'm good. Just freaked me out yesterday.

Sounds like you are ok. After a few more rides, recheck it... but it sounds like you shouldn't have a problem.
