okay guys i want to do a complete oil change tune up... what ever you want to call it but i want to make sure my machine will be running tip top shape this summer, i was wondering if you guys can tell me how to change the engine oil and what oil to put in there? also what kind of jet pump fluid and how much to toss in there also... thanks alot guys:seeya:

also besides plugs and jet pump oil and motor oil is there anything else i should take into consideration to change also?

Check/clean the rave valves, change inline filter - gas & oil, grease the PTO bearing (under the plastic cover), check wear ring and impeller, clean and wax the hull top to bottom.

Have fun.

Your ski came with two different engines it really a 587 or a 717, really doesn't matter because the maintenance is the same.
New spark plugs.
Change the injection oil filter, replace the small injector hoses if they are brittle.
Bleed the oil pump.
Overhaul the carbs.
Replace the grey fuel lines.
You don't have any oil in the engine, you have no counterbalance shaft.
No rave valves.
Change the pump oil.

i have new plugs im going to throw in after the de-winterizeation, oil filter was replaced late last year does that need to be done again? carbs were redone this year and i have new black fuel lines as of last august. so hopefully all i have to do is the pump oil... can anyone tell me how much pump oil and what kind of pump oil to use?? and yes it is the 717... i guess because it is oil injected that makes sense i dont have to change engine oil hahaaha

Griz came up with this, I haven't tried it, but it sounds like a real east way to change the jet pump oil. Remove the fill plug from the cone, remove the 3 screws that hold the cone on, do not remove the cone turn it about 180 degrees so it's at the bottom and drain the oil over night. Turn the cone back to it's original position replace the cone screws fill the pump with oil, it takes about 3 oz. and replace the fill plug.

The pump oil is 75w90, GL5 synthetic, I use Mobile 1.

do you just fill it up until its full or actually have to add about 3 oz into the cone?

Fill it full, in fact fill it then wait for the air bubbles to clear and add more oil.

thanks lou ... ill try to pick up the oil tomorrow and get it done ... seams like it should only take a half hour or so, can i just run to pepboys and get the oil?

and in a way.. thanks to griz too haha

If you pull your pump and it hasn't been off in a bit I would get a new neoprene seal and replace it. I always put some silicone on the pump to hull mating surface around the bailer tubes also.
