Clogged Flush Line & Salt Issues

All, I am a new Sea Doo owner of a couple 2008 GTX Limited 215's. Salt water boats with low hours but looks like the previous owner did not properly flush them. One of the skis has a totally clogged flush line that seems to be at the hose attached to the exhaust manifold at the bottom of the engine.

Is there any chance of clearing this without tearing it all down? I hear that is a tedious task and takes quite a few hours.

Also, the inside of the hull is pretty clean but there is some salt on the engine components. Is soap & water followed by Salt Away the answer? Do you have to be very careful when spraying the engine with a hose?

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Find a way to get vinegar into the line and let it soak. Maybe from inside the hull, find a high spot where the line is, remove it and fill it up from there. If it is totally plugged, do not plug the end you normally put the hose. If it flows through, then plug it.

In my experience salt away doesn't really do a good job of dissolving salt already deposited on engine components, but it can't hurt....

I'd suggest a nice liberal dose of crc 656 all over the inside, let it sit 24 hours then repeat, i've found that a couple doses of that helps the salt release and fall down inside the hull then rinse it out.

Thanks. From what I understand, that flush tube is way down underneath the engine at the exhaust manifold. I will take a look at it and see if there is a way to get vinegar to it. She still runs great but you have to flush it a different way which is a bit of a pain.

Thanks guys. On a different note, would the crc lube up the steering? One of the skis has slightly tight steering while the other one is perfect. Is that hard to get to where you need to lubricate it?

That depends on the issue.

Unbolt the nozzle linkage from the steering cable. Does the nozzle move easy or stiff? If easy, unbolt the steering handle bars from the cable, do the bars pivot easy or stiff. If easy, you need a new cable as you can not lube it. It is rusting and will fail. For safety reasons, replace not repair the cable. If the nozzle or bars are stiff, then can be lubed and repaired without replacement in most cases.
