I have a 2003 GTX 4-TEC Supercharged skit that we took out otday and about a half hr in to ride the warning light came on and gave cose 12 v low. Got the ski home and found the 30 amp fuse for the charging curcuit melted in the holder. i replaced the fuse and ran the ski on a hose, after a couple minutes of running the fuse was almost to hot to hold. I cleaned all grounds on block and battery, cleaned positive cable still same thing. I checked the voltagea t the battery and it is runing 12.5 to 13 volts at idle to 4000 rpm. I checked the ohms and voltage of the stator and all are within spec. i replaced the fuse holder as it was melted and not making goood connection.

What should i check next? Is it possible that the battery is somehow causing this? The battery started the Ski just fine.
Thanks
Craig

They are known for the fuse fitting loosely in the fuse holder and therefore causing alot of heat. You have probably already fixed the problem when you replaced the holder.

I had read that they were prone to doing this prior to replacing the fuse holder, however the fuse is still getting hotter that I believe it should after running for a couple minutes, that is why i am still concerned. I ran the ski four maybe 3 minutes on a hose and the fuse was very hot.

If only the fuse holder is hot and not the wires leading to it then the heat is being caused by resistance of the fuse holder.
