I am going to Change the Gray fuel lines and carb filters on my 97 XP and 97 SPX. What I need to know is what to watch out for when opening the carbs and changing the filters. After I change the filters can I just screw the crabs or do I really need to put a sealant on the carbs, If so what kind ? Also I just had my carbs rebuilt last year and I have only ran them for 15min or so do I really need to rebuild them if the filters are clogged or can I just replace the filters? Thanks for the help.

15min. is enough to dislodge any of the green/blue slime, and plug them up, or atleast be sitting in there.

You might not tear a diaphram opening it to just get to the filters. Just use carb spray cleaner on the filters and re-install. No sealant on the carb cover, just grease
on the screw thread. Use sealant on the gasket carb to manifold. You don't want an air leak there.
