Challenger 1800 yr2000 single jet steering & starting

I have a 2000 1800 challenger, it never starts quickly I have to try to turn it over 4-8 times before it starts and sometimes dies right after but after warm runs great. Maybe a starter issue or spark plugs?

Steering point to the right to go straight can I adjust it myself?
 
Yes, you can adjust it your self. At the steering cable under the front hood area.
Are you choking the engine before you start it? You might want to try new spark plugs also. NGK BR8ES gaped to .021 to .024"

How can I choke my engine? I don't see anything up by controls? I assume steering I just losing turn to correct position and tighten?

You need to add the boats engine information to your avatar. What engine do you have? It makes a big difference in the information to give you.

On you seadoo there should be a choke lever T handle by the dess unit I believe on that model... The adjustment should be under the hood area...

I have the V6 merc. single engine.

That makes it much easier.......:)

With the carburated 210 you have what Mercury calls a turn key start system. It uses a fuel enrichment valve mounted beside the carburetors that is controlled by the ECM to provide a richer mixture on cold start. The ECM monitors the cylinder head temperature and decides how long to keep the valve open.

One real quick test you can do is open the engine cover and have someone turn the key to the run position while you listen closely to the solenoid. You should hear a "click" when it is activated. A somewhat more detailed test is to remove one of the outlet hoses and place it in a container to catch the fuel, now disconnect the "Purple" bullet connector and ground the male end. turn the key to run and the valve should click, and you should see fuel flow from the disconnected hose. If not you may have a bad valve.

Replace the spark plugs for good maintenance and let me know if you need more help.

Changed out the spark plugs seems to have done the trick. Now I'll I need to do it work on steering. Thanks everyone for your HELP!!!
