Carbon seal

I pulled the half round ring out from the shaft but the shaft will not come out. I can pull it enough to pull it out from the spline but it won't come all the way out. Im trying to replace the carbon seal, am I missing something. Appreciate any help.

I just pulled mine the other day. You really have to yank on it a couple of times really hard to get it pulled out. Make sure to put a little grease on it when you put it back in

You are so correct. I had to smack the stainless steel piece in order to free it. But it's done now.
