Carbon Ring resurfacing

Have carbon ring that specs out size wise as my new one in package. Is there a way to resurface or clean the face of old one and the support ring and reuse them. Such as using valve lapping compound on a piece of glass in a figure 8 or something. I Can't see putting a new one on when they appear the same. Any tips would be great.

That small part is what will keep your ski above water. Replace it with the new one that you already have along with a new stainless top hat and new bellows.

Ok. Will do. Do I need to wipe off the carbon seal or silver top hat with anything. Or lube it with anything.

Nope, when running in water the water itself cools/lubricates the carbon seal.
