Carb question

Took my skis out for the first time this year. When loading it back on the trailer I had to give it a little gas. While giving it gas, it would bog down and I wouldn’t get any power. Other then that it ran great. Think it may be a carb tuning issue? If so is that a lower setting (sorry still learning them). Also it does have a new wear ring so I know the power loss is not coming from that. Motor is a 587. Thnx

It’s almost always a dirty carb and/ or fuel system. When’s the last time you rebuilt the carb, fuel strainer and on/off valve?

Carb was rebuilt late last year (Sept’ish). Gas tank was cleaned out and ethanol gas added back. Oil tank drained and refilled with new. All new gas lines (got rid of the gray). On/off fuel valve was cleaned but not replaced. May replace it. That could also explain why it hard starts after sitting for 10 min with the fuel in the on position.

it is hard to say exactly what your issue is with the info you gave us, it could be as simple as your low speed screw setting but you are going to have to do some calibration checks, you say it runs fine otherwise....so the only time you had a issue was loading it on the trailer? is it because you just spent a lot of time idling up a no wake zone? if your low speed screw is out too far and you just ran at an idle for a long time it could be loaded up on fuel. you need to do some plug checks, if your plugs look good at all throttle positions other than at idle then try adjusting your low speed screw, but if you find the plugs look rich at all throttle positions then you could have your pop off pressure set wrong, hard to start after sitting for 10 mins could be because of a leaking needle and seat or because of the previous adjustments also among other things.
