I'm putting new oem carbs on my spx 800. The thicker gasket is the original that I removed from the ski. The thinner gasket is the new one that came with the carb kit. The original gasket is 5x thicker and made of a different material. This new gasket is just a flimsy paper one. Is this new gasket OK to use?

I have a 650 SPX, and the thinner gaskets are what I used. I sprayed them lightly with Permatex copper coat, just to add a bit of "meat" in case of any deformities, but they have worked fine so far.

Did you use the ultra copper in the tube, or is there a spray can version?

EDIT: found the spray

I sprayed both sides, just to make sure. It doesn't add much to the thickness, but is does get sticky, and that helps keep it in place while putting the bolts in. I'm guessing that if any deformities were more than the copper spray could overcome, it might be time for new parts. Not sure if I even needed it, but it put my mind at ease a bit.
