hello all, i just bought a wear ring for my gtx and i went to go take off the pump and i can't get it off! i asked the dealer and they said the spline is probably corroded and they said that if i pull on it to hard it can rip the crank seal? is the any secrets to getting these off with out damaging anything? i know there is a clamp for it that hold the seal in place but is there a way of not having to use it? if i have to buy one how much are they? thanks!

You may need to borrow, buy, or make a impeller housing removal tool. I think I saw where someone made one from 2x4's. I haven't done this yet but may soon since I have a beginning cavitation problem. Read your service manual for directions and to make sure you've disconnected everything.

i have read the manual and they have the clamp tool and a puller like you said but it is hard to tell what model they are referring to because it has the 951di xps rfis and 4tec so im a little confused hear. thanks for the tip!

Here's what mine says: On inside, Remove small clamp on drive shaft boot and water hoses from impeller housing, then use
"impeller housing remover tool P/N 295 000 113". It looks rather generic so would work on most units.
Maybe its time to take it the dealer for wear ring install. Let us know how you work it out.

i am thinking that, i could take everything off and just let them pull it the last way off it should take much shop time to do it so i hope it would cost me that much but hey 100 bucks is alot better then dealing with the hassel of tearing a crank seal so ill see what they charge to do it, maybe i can get them to never seize the spline so i can get it off next time. thanks for the help ill keep you posted on what i come up with.
