Can you use Seafoam in a speedster gas mixture to clean the system?

Seafoam has been around for a LONG time and has always been the goto product for boats, which up untill recently were mostly 2-stroke.

I use it in my Ski's to keep the works clean.

But if you have any kind of issues, don't just run seafoam and expect that to fix/clean your problems away.

You guys can do what you want. I can only state the facts, and give my opinion. Remember... there are a lot of products out there that are "Snake oil"... and there is no one to regulate them.

This will be my last words on this......

Think about this......

If that detergent is powerful enough to actually strip the gum, and varnish out of the carbs, without any "Mechanical" help (like a scrub brush, or pressurized air) what do you think it's doing to that thin layer of oil on your cyl walls? Also... what is it doing to the rubber parts in the fuel system?

If you want to run it in a 4-stroke engine... fine. But it will shorten the life of a 2-stroke. (it's not going to be an instant death)

That is all.

Good luck

Agreed, if you're having fuel issues you need to take the carbs apart and clean them..There's no shortcuts..

Just putting my 2 cents in here, but have you ran premium fuel through it at all?? I know some people will say it doesn't do anything, but good fuel may help it out.

Dr Honda,

I don't like to disagree with you. But I feel you are completely wrong about SeaFoam.

This is from their website:
Sea Foam® is a safe and versatile additive that can be used in fuel, oil or added directly into the combustion chamber on 2-cycle, 4-cycle, rotary and diesel engines. Sea Foam® is a 100% pure petroleum product, so it is as safe for seals, o-rings, sensors and other fuel system and engine components as the fuel or motor oil that runs the engine. Sea Foam® contains NO harsh chemicals.

SeaFoam has been used for they say 90+ years, but I'm not that old to claim that, so I'll say 30+ years on 2-stroke marine applications/engines as well as car's, lawn mowers, etc, etc. I've NEVER heard of any kind of failure or wear caused by SeaFoam.

That said, I agree 100% that if there is a known problem with a ski/engine/etc that you should fix/clean the problem not just dump a can of seafoam in the tank and expect it to fix all your fuel sytem problems. But as an additive to help prevent build up and keep a clean system clean, it's a great product.

As I said, I don't like to argue with you, but I just feel you are totally off on this one.

Seems you'd be better off buying stable and doing proper maintance then using that stuff and paying extra $$$..

THECHAD:

BANNED !!!!!!!!

sorry... J/K

As above... I'm not saying anything else on this... but.....

You have every right to disagree with me. I don't know everything, and I learn stuff all the time. That's what makes this place great. I take no offence to someone defending their point. (but I won't change my mind on this subject)
