Can anyone help me identify what type of oil this is?

In a 1997 GSI with 720 engine. Trying to determine what kind of oil this is. It has kind of a thin consistency and smells odd, it's more of a green color not really blue. Is it twc3 or API-TC? By chance can anyone ID it based solely on the photo? I know this is kind of a dumb question but thanks for the help.

Based solely on color, it's the wrong oil. Unless they gave you a bottle of oil with the spec on it assume it's the wrong oil.

Agreed. Looks like cheap outboard oil. I'd put a new oil filter in it and the right oil.

Thanks guys. I'll drain it out and replace filter. Do I need to worry about getting oil out of the engine itself or like the Rotary valve? Or just drain the tank and lines and refill?

looks like some kinda Quicksilver oil. Not the correct oil thats for sure.

I would suggest getting as much out of the rotary valve an flushing a little correct oil through it. The wrong oil in there has been known to make the inner crank seals leak.
