My 95 xp used the xp-s mineral oil. My 96 gti used the quicksilver (silver jug) oil. Out of simplicity and cost, can I mix the quicksilver with the xp-s mineral oil so I'm using just on brand of oil for both ski's?

Someone explained to me that the Rotax engines run much cooler than Merc 2-strokes. The Bombardier oil is formulated for these cooler temperatures, while the QuickSilver is formulated for higher temperatures. If you put non Bombardier oil in a Rotax, the oil won't burn properly, and gum up stuff. I don't think mixing them together would help, other than to only be half as poisonous to the Rotax.

Can someone who actually knows what they're talking about confirm or deny this?

Cheers,
Jeff

From research, I'm guessing I can mix the xp-s mineral oil with the quicksilver silver jug oil because both are a blend of mineral and synthetic. Hope I'm right...

You're pretty much correct. However I wouldn't mix the two oils even though they are probably compatible. I would use up as much as the XPS as you can and drain the rest. Then add the quicksilver. In the meantime take about 1 oz. of each oil and mix them, if after about one day they are still mixed and don't gel it will be O.K.

BTW, jagilbert the brand of oil is not so important but the certification is, SeaDoo 2-stroke use API-TC certified injector oil, motors without RAVE valves can use either mineral or synthetic blend. There's a bunch of threads on the subject.
