Hey guys, im pretty sure ill be buying a 2008 rxp 215 with 106 hours on it. Went and checked it out today, looks pretty good, no scratches or anything on top, fired up fine. There was a little something underneath tho. It looked like a gel coat covering a tiny dent or something. Is this a common thing? Do most people do this or is it something i have to worry about?

Im paying 8000 for the machine and another 850 for a brand new trailer. Does anyone have any info on what i should be looking for in regards to repairs, maintenance etc? Is this a reliable machine?

what is the difference between the rxp and rxt? Is my price at 8k a good price? Im in canada btw,

thanks for the help

Almost $9K total?

That's a bit much for a machine with over 100 hrs on it, not even including a trailer. For that year model I would be looking at $7500 w/trailer. 2006 model RXT's and RXP's routinely go for $6K including trailers on Ebay, and with far fewer than 100 hrs on them. Do some comparative shopping 1st! Ebay's 1 good resource to see what similar models are going for.

If there was gelcoat covering a dent, how do you know there was a dent there? Sounds like a poorly done gelcoat repair to me... and if it's bigger than your thumbprint, I'd be looking inside the hull in the same area to see if there's been fiberglass repairs done (meaning it had a hole knocked in the hull, and possibly sank). A good gelcoat repair you'd not be able to detect without a magnifying glass!

Also with it having just over 100 hrs on it, has the Supercharger been rebuilt? At 100 hrs, it's that time! Dealerships charge close to $700 to rebuild a supercharger.

The RXT is a 3 person watercraft, it's a bit longer and has a 2-piece seat. Much more comfortable with 2 adults on it than the 2 person RXP. I'd say it's "spacious". Might be 1 or 1.5 mph slower than RXP due to slightly heavier and longer hull, but rides smoother. They have the same engine and jetpump however, and same year models in same condition go for about the same price generally speaking by my observation.

Ill ask the guy if the SC has been redone, all the rxps that are selling around me and off of kjiji are 10,000 for the boat and trailer, dont know if american prices are cheaper, but ive never seen the 08 rxp here in canada for anywhere near 7500 with a trailer. The guy selling does the upkeep himself he says, oil changes etc.

As for the gel coat, it definately looks like a quick make shift job, it looks like a fibre glass sealer on it but you can see tiny little holes in the actual gel coat. Its very visible when spotted. and its a little bigger than the size of my thumb print. its on the very bottom of the boat.

The picture of the add had the boat on a lift out of the water, looked like he had a good set up, which would lead me to believe he didnt abuse it. May be presumptious but hoping im buying a winner

Go to Ebay, type in the Search box "SeaDoo RXP" and press enter. Now under Ebay Motors category click "Powersports" so you'll only see complete watercraft listings (and not all the parts listings). You should find about 8 RXP's listed right now. One's a 2009 model, with 0 hrs on it and full factory warranty in Wisconsin for almost the same price you're looking to pay for a 1 year older machine with over 100 hrs on it. Hellooooo!

There's an RXP-X 2008 model with only 30 hrs on it for less than the one you're looking at, and it even has a trailer under it included. Admittedly it's in Florida but that's not the point I'm making here... for the hours on it, and not including a trailer, I think that one you're looking at is overpriced and you should either negotiate it down some or look for another one IMO. If it costs you a hundred in gas to go pick up a similar year model machine with half the hours on it which includes a good trailer for a grand or so less.... the math works for me at least!

I think you need to shop around just a little more, really. But to each their own! Good luck!

Hi Im in Australia, so I can't advise you on your pricing, but I own a 2008 RXP. I bought mine with 20 hours on it with trailer for $14000 AUD.
I love my RXP 215. It handles well and top speed shown on speedo is 113 km per hour.
But like any performance machine they must be well maintained. If all the owner has done is oil changes, ask what else has been done and by whom. Ask to see proof of any work done. Receipts etc. As others have said, if over 100 hours be asking about the supercharger service. That costs over $1000 here in Australia to get done. Ask about the wear ring. I've replaced mine twice and I only have 50 hours on mine. The wear ring is there to get worn instead of other parts. So ask about that as well. Has jet pump oil ever been changed? Definately would be asking someone to check this machine out before purchase, due to evidence of repair. Most jetskis have some scratches etc underneath. Ask where it's been riden.
These are only my opinions. I'm no expert but just wish to help. Good luck.

Keep in mind he is in Canada, and from we have heard from almost every other Canadian is that the prices the skis are going for are always higher than here in the States.

Don't jump the gun before doing some homework with prices in your area. See if you can talk to some other Canadians here like BMANN.

The indentation may be a patch job on previous hull damage. Take a look on the inside of the hull if you can and inspect the fiberglass. Make sure you don't see any cracks. Also, take a good look at the gelcoat in the intake tunnel area on the bottom of the ski. The 2008's had issue with cracking in that area. Get a bright flashlight, crawl under the machine and inspect.

keep in mind that you can flip your wear ring to get two uses out of one ring. the propeller only wears on 1/2 of the wear ring (depth wise) at a time
