Hey all. I have a 1998 GTI carb that runs great but the studs in the manifold broke , The cooling pipe is lose now and water comes in. I see these manifolds on ebay . Can i take this all apart without pulling the engine. Anyone have any pointers for me. thanks

I assume you are referring to the exhaust system? Yes you can replace that without pulling the engine providing the manifold bolts are not stuck. You might be abole to remove the broken bolts after you remove the manifold. I've repaired a couple using a helicoil.

The studs and bolts break because the rubber pipe mounting washers are worn and allow too much movement. Make sure you replace them.
what kind of Loctite should i use on the muffler bolts and should i use Loctite on the manifold to engine and the bushings. Thanks for all you help i really appreciate it. I am trying to get all these parts before the weekend but I doubt it happens.

I use ThreeBond 1360 on every bolt.
You should be good with standard LoctTite/Permatex Blue or even the new Orange.
