I just blew my rear piston, the ring failed, killed the piston and the head, replacing head with new $150, when boring the cylinder, as the rear has scores from the failed ring, do I just bore that one cylinder to fit the new piston, or do I need to do a complete top end rebuild. I just priced doing one piston at approximately, $314.00 give or take a few bucks (new piston, ring, circle clips and piston pin $105, and then to get the cylinder bored, the rest). I can get a complete top end from SBT at $475.00. Give me some advice as to what you think, everything welcomed, especially past experiences.

Thanks.

Get on e-bay and get a wsm top end kit for $180. You should be able to get the cylinders bored for around $100. A few hours of labor and your in business.

+1

This is exactly what I am doing, except my cylinders are still good so I'm just having them bored/honed.
