boat steers right

I put my boat in the water yesterday and I noticed the boat turns to the right with the shifter handle in forward and engines idling. As far as I know the nozzles are aligned and so is the steering wheel.

so.... turn to the left:confused:

At idle, you don't have enough thrust to have fine control.

how is it under throttle, at speed???

At speed, it should go straight.

I am thinking that your right pump isn't in perfect shape, and the left pump is pushing a little harder. I'm assuming that the engines are running at the same RPM's.

Now... there is a little torque effect, but it shouldn't be very noticeable. I'd check that right pump for damage, or a warn drive shaft seal. The easy way to get a feel for it is to let your left engine idle, and mash the right one to full throttle. You will feel a little cavatation... but the boat should accelerate.

Steers to right...

I know this post is a little late, but I had a similar problem, more noticeable at slow speed than fast. It turned out that only one nozzle was steering! My mechanic found this in two seconds, as I had been having a devil of a time getting the boat on the trailer because the boat kept trying to turn right. My mechanic friend lifted the top of the steering console up to reveal the storage compartment there, then pulled the liner of the storage compartment up and out, to reveal the steering push pull rods where the steering cables attach to the steering wheel mechanism. One of the bolts had come loose, thus only one jet nozzle was articulating. All he had to do was reattach the nut, and problem solved. Hope your problem is solved as easy!
