Hi to all and thanks in advance.
Just bought this 1997 SPX, I knew it didn't start when I bought it but having solved issues on other makes in the past I took a chance on this one. This is my first Seadoo and the price seemed right at the time.
This ski blows the 5 amp fuse in the forward fuse box (MPEM??) as soon as it is inserted, with or without the lanyard installed and it appears no power at all to instruments or starter switch.
I'm unfamiliar with the DESS system but found a test procedure on this forum and the post/lanyard appears OK.
The box at the back with coils and fuses in it has some standing water in it and was a cluster f***k of corrossion. The two fuses in there, a 7.5 & 15 amp fuses were corroded to nothing. Lots of rust and such in there also.
I can jump solenoid and the engine at least engages but I need it to work as it is supposed to from the handle bar switch.
No manual but I'm reading MPEM issues here and I assume that is the brain portion.
Is there something in the back that could be blowing the fuse in the front ?? Ideas appreciated. Gosh I love a good challenge.
Thanks again in advance. Fred
