blinking red MAINT light

i have the owners manual but cannot find out what this means. it says "MAINT" on the display when i put my key in. the red warning light blinks as well. i'm at 99 hours, if that matters. any idea what this means?

appears it may simply be a "low fuel" issue.

i filled the tank. i put 14.2 gallons in a 15 gallon tank. the MAINT light and the red ! light are still blinking. i disconnected the battery to try to "reset?" it. it's still blinking. i have a date with my family on the lake tomorrow. well i did.

it was running fine 2 days ago. on the way back to the ramp it felt as if it may have sputtered once or twice. it was while i was jumping and had the nose up. i assumed it was just a lack of fuel. it starts and revs fine in the driveway.

the book list 2 pages of possibilities. my buzzer works off and on so i'm not getting a buzzer count at all. i have no idea where to go from here.

changed the plugs, cleaned the water separator. still got a blinking red MAINT light.

what boat? what year? maint is just a reminder to do your maintenance at hourly intervals. older boats can be cleared by pressing set and mode and holding, newer require BUDS to clear the code.

it blinks 10 times when i first insert the key. then it goes to the clock. fires right up and has no other issues.

gonna go try clearing it. thank you.

what does the hourly maintenance consist of? running a 1996 gtx with 75 or so hours. sorry i am a noob bought it three days ago and been out to the river three days in a row.
