Automatic bilge pump will not turn on automatically. Will only work using manual switch if battery switch is in the "on" position. I have replaced the pump and have checked the fuse. What am I missing?
I removed the pump from the base (screen) and while it was still connected to the power, I manually forced the float up into the unit as it should work if surrounded by water. It turned on after several attempts at this. It is as if there is a short somewhere or it acts like it is air bound in some way.
I dont think it's air bound. Is it a 3 wire or 4, Also what make is the pump and I will post a wire skit. If you know witch is the constant 12volt hot for the float control.By pass that wire with a temporary one from the batt. Then try moving the float to the on and off positions. If that works fine you have 2 choices eather run a 12 volt hot from your batt with a fuseable link or trace down the original feed wire and find out what is going dead on it. Also it may feed from your manual switch. hope this helps:cheers:
it has 3 wires ,one black, one brown, and one brown with a white stripe, the brown goes to hot, the black goes to ground,The wire one brown with a white stripe goes to the manual/automatic switch I will get a pic on here in one sec
