Guys, does anyone know the best way to drain the gas tank on a Challenger 180?
My boat sat idle most of the summer with a full tank of gas, now that winter is setting in,(though I still use the boat occasionally all year) I was thinking I should drain out the older gas, (use it up in my truck), replace it with some fresh stuff and top off with sta-bil.
Problem is when I feed my siphon hose into the tank, it doesn't seem to come in contact with the fuel?
Is my hose too short? (no manhood jokes please, wife already has the corner on that market)...or is their some saddle tank manifold arrangement on the filler line that prevents me from getting to the fuel?
Any help is greatly appreciated. John

John, There shouldn't be anything in the filler tube to prevent the siphon hose to enter the tank. It does have a long reach to the fuel tank. Be sure to use a bulb to help siphon the fuel as it's not a good idea to suck on the hose to get a siphon from that long a distance...and fuel/ fumes tastes like crap and are harmful to your health and for safety reasons too.

pump

i bought an "drill powered" pump from advance auto parts also available at napa (advance cheaper) and it works almost as fast as a gas station pump. inexpensive i think 6 bucks.

the only thing is that i think it can be dangerous i think if the drill where to spark or something (while pumping gas). but i guess i have been blessed and i am able to write about it!:) i guess if your cautious you will/should not have any issue.

i will post a picture as soon as i get a chance!

this is not a picture of mine , it looks the same but i bout hose connectors at walmart and used old garden hose and made it the lenght i wanted.

good luck!
